GroupM Hackathon: explore brand value with data & AI

Do you want to participate in solving data & AI related problems? Then, we would love to see you at Hackathon, starting on September 17!

The challenge 

Online media reputation is more important than ever. Therefore, most companies are interested in uncovering the general perception of them in the digital space. That is exactly why our Hackathon will be focusing on this topic, starting with a case that concerns how one can use Big data to help a company gain insights about how their brand is viewed across different online forums. For instance, this includes how people refer to the brand on social media – is there a positive or negative influence? While it can be quite difficult and time consuming to get this type of information from the physical world, there are myriads of opportunities in the digital sphere when using Big Data. Therefore, the participants must find creative and innovative solutions to illustrate how one can approach this challenge. 

There are many ways to solve this problem. For instance, the participants are free to make use of different methods and tools such as webscrabing, cognitive services, python packs, power bi or an app. We are not expecting a finished product but rather a presentation of a MVP-solution. This could be in the shape of a prototype or mockup.  

 

Why is this relevant? 

The participants will get an opportunity to learn about and use Microsoft’s Azure data & AI resources for free in this hackathon, and through that demonstrate their knowledge and skillset in the field of problem-solving, data management and innovation. You will be provided with technical guides and Azure credit for free use of their resources. Moreover, as a participant you can present your solution for several companies which can boost your early career within the field of data science.  

The winners of Hackathon will receive awards from GroupM as well as Microsoft and will be offered an internship or student job at GroupM. 

 

When and where is this happening? 

The event will take place from 17/09/21 – 21/09/21 

There will be a kick-off with live streaming from Zealand college, while GroupM will arrange lunch and technical support both Saturday and Sunday (18/09 & 19/09) as well as winner announcement and presentation of the awards on September 21 at 16.30.

Work on the cases 

Monday: hand-in before 11:00 AM, online 

Tuesday: Announcement ceremony at Auditoriet 16:30 at GroupM

16:30-16:35: Introduction & welcome

16:35-16:45: Introduction to groupM and announcing the Finalist.

16.45-17.30: The best groups’ present their project(solution), followed by Q&A after each presentation (Each group has 5 minutes to present + 2 min for Q&A + judges comment on  each project)

17:30-17.40: Announcing the winner of Microsoft challenge

17.40-17.50: Jakob Kofoed and other available judges, announces the Winners of Data & AI Hackathon.(Prizes for top 3 from GroupM, and top 6 all get Zealand prizes)

17.50-18.00: Confetti and Wrap-up
